The Four U's in Direct Mail Marketing

Much like the four P's, the four U's can help your direct mail ad copy immensely. These are not as crucial as the P's, but they help make your copy even stronger. The four U's are Ultra-specific, urgent, useful and unique. Be Ultra specific. Details get noticed and sell. Urgent means that you need to make the reader aware that this mail offer will not last forever. Creating a sense of urgency can help boost response. Useful is a re-telling of the benefits and exactly how useful they can be to the customer in everyday life. Unique means offering something that the competition does not, like an extra feature or guarantee.
