Phone Numbers In Direct Mail Marketing

You should not be afraid to split test, asking your customers to include their phone numbers on the order form. This technique can sometimes depress responses, but you should leave that up to the testing of your direct mail, because this is not a conclusive fact. It might be a good idea to preface it with a remark concerning your attention to details and the possibility that you may have to telephone so that you can clarify something on the order. Customers who give you their phone numbers are much less likely to cancel their orders from you, especially if they responded by mail.
